Indonesian Mining Association (IMA) is pessimistic that the existence of presidential regulation (perpres) to regulate the underground mining in forest area can encourage the investment

IMA Executive Director Priyo Pribadi Soemarno considered the existence of Perpres on on underground mining in forest area cannot be guaranteed to spur the fertile investment growth. The gist is government is yet to decide on the main point that can support the development of mining climate in Indonesia.

Sumbawa Barat Gandeng Titan Beli Saham Newmont

JAKARTA - Pemerintah Kabupaten (Pemkab) Sumbawa Barat, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) menggandeng PT Titan Metals untuk mendanai pembelian 7% saham divestasi PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (NNT) periode 2010 senilai USS 271.6 juta.

M Syahril Amin, ketua Komisi II DPRD Sumbawa Barat, mengatakan. Titan menyingkirkan tiga pesaingnya dalam uji kelayakan yang diselenggarakan dewan dan pemerintah daerah.

Antam Not Interested in Newmont Stake

JAKARTA: PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) asserted it was not interested in owning a 7% stake in PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (NNT) divested under the latter’s 2010 program, despite central government’s announcing it would acquire the US$271.6 million stake.

Antam president director Alwin Syah Loebis believed a mere 7% stake in the company owning the Batu Hijau Mine was not a strategic acquisition for his company.
